Hearing Evaluations

Close to 30 million Americans would benefit from the use of a hearing aid, but sadly a far smaller number actually take the steps to obtain one. Although hearing loss can be an isolating and depressing condition, there are a wide variety of hearing aids and devices that work to improve your hearing and accommodate nearly every lifestyle and budget. To determine if a hearing aid would benefit you, a complete hearing evaluation is the first step you’ll take.At Autumn Oak Speech, Voice & Hearing, we start on the path back to healthy hearing with a complete hearing evaluation. The tests are quick and easy, and help to clarify the source of your hearing loss, its severity, and which solutions will best meet your needs. We begin your hearing evaluation by reviewing your medical history, current symptoms, and your specific hearing needs. Using a specialized tool called an otoscope, we will physically examine your ear to look for any injuries or blockages inside.Next, we’ll use a complete set of audiometric tests to evaluate your hearing. You will be asked to wear a special set of earphones and to signal when you can hear the various sounds our tests emit. We will test your ability to hear across a broad range of frequencies and volumes, and you may be asked to repeat different words that you hear to help determine if any pitches and tones of speech are not being heard. Sometimes we utilize this procedure in the presence of background noise.

When these tests are complete, Dr. Saltarrelli will carefully review your results with you. She will print a graph of your results, called an audiogram, so you can clearly see what sounds you hear well and if there are any that you don’t. If your results reveal that you’re a good candidate for amplification, she will then review your many options for treating hearing loss.

At Autumn Oak, you can trust that you will never feel pressured to choose any hearing solution that you’re not comfortable with. Our mission is to simply help you understand your current hearing ability and the options available to you for improved hearing.

Whether you are in Friendswood or Pearland, TX, or are in a nearby surrounding area, please don’t hesitate to Contact us today to schedule your hearing evaluation.

“My son Caleb attended Autumn Oaks for about two years because he had a speech delay. During his time there his speech and pronunciation improved greatly. Mrs. Eshita (our speech pathologist) is so encouraging, patient and supportive. The entire staff is friendly and great to work with. We cannot thank Autumn Oaks enough for helping our son!!”

“My daughter has been seeing her speech therapist, Vilma Sandoval, for just a few months now and we have already seen such progress.
